Making money on CarbonNetwork SMP: shops, professions and projects
How the SMP economy works on CarbonNetwork: selling through shops and chest shops, picking a profession, and community projects.
Medium3 min read
Money here is SMP's own balance, separate from your Creative and Skyblock balances.
Your balance
/bal one line: what you have
/baltop the ten largest balances here
/pay <player> <amount> pay them, now
/wallet balance, pay someone, recent history
There's no /bal <player>; /baltop shows the ten largest balances on this server, and where
you stand. Amounts read short ($1.5K, $2M), and you can type them that way: /pay Ada 1.5k. A
payment over $1,000 asks you to confirm first, so a typo is easy to catch.
Don't want to be paid? Accept payments in /wallet turns it off.
Player shops
/shop yours
/shop <player> theirs, even offline
Click an item to buy it; your own listings say reclaim. List New Item takes an item from your inventory, you set the price with the +/− buttons, then click Confirm Listing.
Auctions
/auction — the auction house. It's bidding, and it's separate from the Market.
- Bid: click an auction and type your bid. It has to beat the top bid by at least the seller's minimum increase. Your bid is held from your balance, and if someone outbids you it comes straight back.
- Buy now: shift-click an auction with a buy-now price to end it at once for that price.
- Last-second bids: a bid with 20 seconds or less left puts the clock back to 20 seconds, so everyone gets a chance to answer.
- Selling: click Start an auction and put in what you're selling: one stack, or up to 27
as one bundle. Then set the starting bid, the minimum increase, a buy-now price (optional) and
when it ends: a length like
24hor2d 6h, or a time like18:00or2026-10-12 18:00. You can take it down until the first bid; after that it runs to the end. - Bundles show as a glowing shulker box in a colour you pick. Right-click one to see every stack in it. The winner gets all of them.
- How many at once: 2 auctions, 4 with VIP, 6 with VIP+, 8 with MVP and 10 with Carbon.
- When it ends, the winner's item and an unsold item both wait in /rewards, even if you're offline. The seller is paid the winning bid, less the market tax.
- Quick buy can fill from an auction's buy-now price when that's the cheapest way, but never at more than 1.5× the usual price, and it always shows a red warning screen first. Those stacks arrive in /rewards.
- Quick sell won't buy enchanted or renamed items; Auction it instead sends one to the setup screen. A buy-now price can be at most 3× what the item is usually worth.
Chest shops
Put a sign on a stocked chest to sell from it. You get paid even when you're offline.
/chestshop the main menu
/chestshop mine your shops, stock and takings
/chestshop history what sold
/chestshop find <item> who's selling it
/chestshop help
Put the chest on land you own. /chestshop find is how buyers find you.
Professions
Pick a trade, level it up over time, and take on jobs other players ask for.
/profession your trade and progress
/profession switch <name>
/profession board open service requests
/profession request ask for a job to be done
/profession find <service> who does this
/profession accept <id>
/profession finish <id> [note]
/profession handover <id>
The payment is held until the job is finished, then released. It works like a commission on Creative.
Community projects
A goal the whole server works toward together, with a lasting record of who helped.
/project the current project
/project contribute hand in materials
/project info
/project suggest propose the next one
Your name stays on the list of helpers after the project closes.
Supporting the server
/support what supporting gets you
/support supporters who has
Anything you buy arrives even if you were offline when it was paid for. See also
/perks in Community.
