Chat channels and player cards on CarbonNetwork SMP
How chat works on CarbonNetwork’s SMP server: local, global and network channels, private messages, and the player card behind every name.

Speech
| Command | Prefix | Reaches |
|---|---|---|
/local | , | ~60 blocks |
/global | @ | Everyone on this server |
/network | ~ | Everyone on every server |
/w | - | ~6 blocks |
/shout | ! | ~100 blocks |
/me | * | Third-person emote |
Start a message with the prefix to send one line there without switching channel; double it
to send it literally (@@everyone → @everyone).
/ic and /ooc are for games. Use them outside one and they'll just
tell you you aren't in one.
What you hear
/chat filters — set your active channel, mute Local, Global or Network, and switch
Local between proximity and everyone.
Muting Global doesn't mute Network, and muting Network doesn't mute Global.
For server chatter rather than people talking, use /quiet — see
Getting started.
Which channel a line came from
Every line starts with one letter; hover it for what it means.
| Tag | Channel |
|---|---|
[L] | Local |
[G] | Global — this server |
[N] | Network — every server. A second tag names the server it came from |
Clickable lines
You can click names, commands and buttons in server messages.
| What | Hover shows | Click does |
|---|---|---|
| A player's name | Their rank, and which server they're on | Opens their card |
| A command with no arguments | Click to run it | Runs it |
| A command that takes arguments | Click to put it in your chat box | Drops it there for you to finish |
A button — [Collect], [Accept] | — | The thing it says |
Buttons stop working after about five minutes and tell you so if you click one. You can still type the command they stood for.
Private messages
/msg <player> <message> aliases /tell, /pm
/r <message> reply to whoever you last messaged, or who last messaged you
/w is not a private message. It's a whisper that reaches 6 blocks, so anyone standing
next to you hears it.
You can turn off incoming messages in the pause-menu options. /r forgets who to reply to
when you log out.
Cards
/card yours · /card <player> theirs, even offline · /card edit the editor
(name, pronouns, bio, portrait from your held item).
You have one card for the whole network, so people see the same card on Creative, Skyblock and the Hub.
Stats
/stats yours
/stats <player> theirs
/stats privacy who sees each group
Stats come in five groups: core, building, community, combat and wealth. Anyone can see a group until you hide it, except wealth: only you can ever see that.
