Stream actions on CarbonNetwork: Twitch, YouTube and TikTok

Start here. For creators with the Media role on CarbonNetwork: viewers on Twitch, YouTube or TikTok set off particle animations and titles that only the creator sees. This page covers the /stream menu, every action, the Live switch, the stream board on the creator’s own land (a claim on SMP, a plot on Creative, an island on Skyblock, none in the hub), the recent list, and what to check when nothing plays. Each platform’s setup has its own page.

For creators with the Media role. Link your stream, and your viewers can set things off on your screen: particles on the ground in front of you, a title, a line above your hotbar.

Only you see them. Nobody near you sees a particle, a title or the words over it, and nobody hears the sound, so it never gives away where you are. It shows up on stream because your stream is your screen.

This page is the overview. Each platform has its own page with every step:

YouTube, through Streamer.botStreaming: YouTube
TikTok, through TikFinityStreaming: TikTok

On Creative, your viewers can also play a game with you: their likes and gifts drop blocks with their faces, TNT and named mobs into a box on your plot. See Streaming: games.

Who it's for

Creators with the Media role. Ask for it with /apply in our Discord. Without the role there is no /stream and no Stream tile.

It works the same on every server: SMP, Creative, Skyblock and the hub. Your links and your actions follow you from server to server. The one thing that doesn't is the stream board, which you place on each server separately.

The /stream menu

Everything is in /stream, or Escape, then CarbonNetwork, You, Stream.

Named mobA mob wearing the viewer's name, standing ahead of you for five seconds3s
Face block, TNTDrop into your game on Creative. See Streaming: gamesnone, 1s

Named mob stands on the ground ahead of you, facing you, with the viewer's name over its head. It can't move, can't be hurt and drops nothing, and like everything else here only you see it, so it works on every server. Pick which mob in its menu with Mob: chicken, pig, sheep, cow, rabbit, fox, frog, cat, villager, zombie, skeleton, creeper, or Random. At most three stand at once; a fourth sends the oldest away.

The eight animations are drawn on the ground about three blocks ahead of where you're facing, and stay where they started. Turn away and they're behind you.

A tile glows when the action is on. Its lore lists its triggers and its cooldown.

Setting up an action

Click an action. Its menu has:

PreviewPlays it for you now

Add a trigger first. Until an action has a trigger, the on/off switch, cooldown, colour, sound and wording all answer Add a trigger first. The first trigger you add switches the action on.

The cooldown, colour, sound and wording belong to the action, not to one trigger. Add a second trigger and it uses the same ones.

Triggers

Which triggers you get depends on what you've linked. Twitch gives six (seven on Hype train), and YouTube and TikTok give one tile each, YouTube link and TikTok link.

  • A trigger with a number (channel points, bits, gift subs, raid, hype train level): click it and type the number. Right-click removes it.
  • A trigger without one (new sub, follow, YouTube link, TikTok link): click to turn it on, click again to remove it.

What each trigger means is on that platform's page.

Your own words

Title and Subtitle (or Wording) take up to 64 characters, with & colour codes. Three words are filled in for you:

WriteBecomesWhen there isn't one
{viewer}The viewer's name"a viewer"
{amount}The number: bits, gifted subs, raid size, likes, monthsNothing
{gift}The gift's name, the channel-point reward's name, or the hype train level"a gift"

On an animation, your title shows as well as the particles. Leave it empty and the animation plays without one. On Title and Action bar, leaving it empty uses the standard wording (the table under What you see), which is usually what you want: it says exactly what the viewer did. Right-click a wording tile to clear it.

Preview

Right-click an action in Actions, or click Preview inside it. It plays at once, with your own name as the viewer, 100 as the amount and Rose as the gift.

Preview works with Live off and before the action has a trigger, so you can look through every action before choosing. It still waits for the cooldown, and it doesn't play in a fight, while staff have paused you, or while three animations are already running.

The Live switch

Live is the master switch. While it's off, nothing a viewer does plays. The event is still recorded (it shows on your board), and the game turns it down as not live. A Twitch channel-point redemption turned down this way is refunded.

Live switches itself off every time you leave a server. Moving to another server counts as leaving, even through the server selector. So:

  1. Join the server you'll stream on.
  2. /stream → Live on.
  3. Change server, and you switch it on again there.

It's off to start with so nothing plays at you when you log in just to play.

What you see when something happens

When an action plays:

  • An animation is drawn on the ground ahead, with two lines of floating text over it: the viewer's name, and what they did. Only you see the text too.
  • A line above your hotbar says the same thing for three seconds: viewer_one sent 500 bits. Every action does this except the Action bar action, which is that line, and a running hype train, whose bar already says it.
  • Your title, if you wrote one, and your sound, if you picked one.

The Title action shows the name large and what they did underneath. The Action bar action shows the one line.

What the text says, word for word:

PlatformWhat happenedYour screen says

YouTube, TikTokThe tool didn't say what happeneda viewer set off Hearts (the action's name)
  • Nothing a viewer types is ever shown. A chat message is only ever sent a chat message, and a channel-point reward's typed message and a cheer's message are never read.
  • A Super Chat's amount is never shown.
  • The YouTube and TikTok wording depends on what your tool tells us. When it says nothing, your screen says which action played, never a guess. The platform pages say how to get the exact wording.

The stream board

A sign anyone can walk up to and read: your channel, your latest follower and sub, today's top cheer and your recent events. It keeps updating while you're offline.

  1. Stand on land you own and face where you want it: a claim on SMP, a plot on Creative, your island on Skyblock.

  2. /stream → Board → Place board. It goes two blocks in front of you.

  3. Pick the lines you want and a colour.

What a board shows, top to bottom:

LineShowsSwitch
HeadingYour Twitch channel name, or your Minecraft name with no Twitch. A red ● LIVE while your Twitch stream is onlineColour: Aqua, Green, Purple, Orange, Red, Gold
Latest followerThe newest follow, from Twitch or a TikTok followLatest follower
Latest subThe newest Twitch subLatest sub
Top cheer todayThe biggest single Twitch cheer since midnight UTC, and its bitsTop cheer today
Recent rowsYour newest events, in the words aboveRecent rows: click for 0 to 5

With nothing to show yet it reads Nothing yet.

  • Only on land you own. Land you're trusted on isn't enough, and the open world doesn't count. If the spot isn't yours, it says Face a spot on land you own.
  • One per server. Move board puts it two blocks in front of you again. Remove board takes a shift-click.
  • None on the hub. Nobody owns land there, so the hub's menu has no Board tile.
  • If the land stops being yours (unclaimed, sold, island left), the board goes, and you're told next time you join.
  • Names on a board are public. Each name is cut to letters, numbers, _ and ., checked against the word filter, and cut to 16 characters. With Names off, every name reads "a viewer".
  • The LIVE dot is Twitch's. A YouTube or TikTok board has none.
  • TikTok and YouTube events only reach the board when they're sent to an action that's switched on. Twitch events reach it whether or not they set anything off.
  • Staff Pause blanks it until the pause lifts. It isn't removed.

The recent list

With Live and Recent list on, your recent events take turns above your hotbar, one every four seconds, each with how long ago it happened: viewer_six followed · 2m ago.

  • Only events from the last ten minutes are shown. When none are that recent, the line is clear.
  • The event that just played isn't repeated straight after it.
  • It goes quiet in a fight, while a menu is open, and for the three seconds a new event is on the line.
  • Twitch events show here whether or not they set off an action. YouTube and TikTok events show when they're sent to an action that's switched on.

Names

Names is on to start with. Off, every viewer reads "a viewer": over animations, in titles, in the Name animation, in the recent list and on your board, on every server.

With Names on, a name is still cleaned before you see it: letters, numbers, _ and ., no more than 25 characters, and the word filter. A name that fails reads "a viewer".

Quiet in combat

Quiet in combat is on to start with. While you're combat-tagged, actions are skipped, not saved for later. After the fight one line above your hotbar says how many: 3 stream actions skipped while you were in combat. A channel-point redemption skipped this way is refunded.

Turn it off and actions play in a fight too, titles included.

Staff pause

Staff can pause one creator, or everyone, when something goes wrong. While you're paused:

  • nothing plays, Preview included (Staff have paused stream actions.);
  • your boards go blank on every server;
  • Twitch channel-point redemptions are refunded;
  • your menu shows Paused by staff.

It lasts until staff lift it. Ask in a ticket if you don't know why.

Limits

  • Each action has a cooldown. An event during it doesn't play.
  • No more than 30 actions a minute, across all your actions.
  • No more than three animations at once.

An event over a limit is skipped, not saved for later. A Twitch channel-point redemption that was skipped is refunded.
