Streaming: games

Easy5 min read

Stream games turn your viewers' likes, gifts, cheers and Super Chats into things in the world. Every one drops a block wearing that viewer's profile picture into a glass box on your plot, or drops a TNT that blows a hole in it. Unlike the rest of /stream, everyone near the box sees it.

Looking for the mob with the viewer's name? That's Named mob, one of the ordinary actions: it plays on every server, for a few seconds, and only you see it.

Games play on the Creative server, on a plot you can build on. Link your platform first: Twitch, YouTube or TikTok.

Set it up in three clicks

  1. Stand on your plot, on flat open ground, facing where you want the box.
  2. /stream → Games → Quick setup. This switches on triggers for Face block, TNT and Named mob on every platform you've linked. It never changes a trigger you set yourself.
  3. Build arena here. A glass box appears two blocks ahead of you.
  4. Game to start. Live switches on with it, so your viewers reach the box straight away.

That's it on Twitch. On TikTok and YouTube there's one more step, in your own tool: see Your tool's links.

The games

GameWho buildsWho wins
Fill UpYour viewers drop face blocks into the box.Everyone, together, when the box is full.
Hold the FortYou fill the box with your own blocks. Viewers' face blocks help you. You, when it's full. Viewers' TNT blows holes in your work.
Dig OutYour viewers bury the box with face blocks. You dig them out. You, if you last until the clock runs out. Your viewers, if the box is 90% full.

When a round ends, the result shows as a title on your screen and fireworks over the box. A few seconds later the box empties and the next round starts. Anything your viewers sent in the meantime carries over into it.

The bar at the top of your screen shows the game, how full the box is and the round. In Dig Out it also shows the time left.

What each action does

ActionWhat happensCounts
Face blockA block with the viewer's profile picture falls into the box and lands on top of whatever is in its column. Their name shows over it for a moment.15 TikTok likes are 15 blocks, up to 10 per event. Gifts and gift subs count too. Everything else is one block.
TNTA lit TNT with the viewer's name drops in. Two seconds later it clears the blocks around where it landed.Up to 3 per gift.

TNT only ever breaks blocks inside the box. It never touches the glass, the ground, you, or anything else on your plot.

Faces

A face block wears the viewer's own profile picture from the platform they're watching on: their Twitch profile image, their TikTok avatar or their YouTube channel picture, drawn as 16×16 pixels on the top of the block and on the sides you can see through the glass. It's low resolution, but you'll recognise it.

  • The first block a viewer sends waits a moment while their picture is fetched. After that their face is ready at once for the rest of the day.
  • If there's no picture, or it can't be read, the block is a solid colour: the picture's colour if we have it, otherwise a colour of the viewer's name (the same every time).
  • Switch Faces off in Games to drop plain coloured blocks only.
  • With Names off on the first page of /stream, faces are off too. A face is who someone is.

On TikTok your tool has to send the picture's address. Add &profilePictureUrl={profilePictureUrl} to the end of the Face block link in TikFinity. We haven't checked TikFinity's variable name yet; if faces don't show, the blocks still drop in colour. On YouTube, add &avatar=%userProfileUrl% in Streamer.bot (also unchecked). Twitch needs nothing: we look the picture up ourselves.

Each action has its own link, exactly as for the other actions. Copy them from Actions → the action → Copy TikTok link (or YouTube). Keep them off your stream.

Twitch's quick setup

On TwitchSets off
A follow, a new sub, any cheerFace block
A cheer of 100 bits or more, gift subsTNT
A raidNamed mob

A cheer of 100 bits or more sets off both a face block and a TNT. Change any of it in Actions. If an action can't play (no game started, or you're not on Creative), a channel-point redemption is refunded, as always.

The arena

  • Size: Small (5×5, 6 high), Medium (7×7, 8 high), Large (9×9, 10 high) or Huge (13×13, 14 high). Change it, then Move arena here to rebuild at the new size.
  • The box needs open space: nothing in the way, all of it on land you can build on, ground under it. If something is in the way you're told how many blocks, and nothing is knocked down.
  • Empty the box (shift-click) clears every block inside and keeps the walls.
  • Remove arena (shift-click) clears it and takes the walls down.
  • The game stops when you leave the server. The arena stays for next time.
  • You can break and place blocks in the box yourself. It's your plot.

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing drops. Is Game on, and Live? Are you on Creative? Check Actions → Face block has a trigger that's on.
  • "Start a game in Games first" on a preview: Face block and TNT need a game running. Named mob doesn't: it's an ordinary action.
  • Blocks drop but have no face. The network may not have faces turned on yet, the viewer may have no picture, or your tool isn't sending it (TikTok, YouTube). They still count.
  • It stalls in a like storm. Blocks fall five a second at most, and up to 200 wait their turn. Past that, extra likes are skipped until there's room.
