Linking Twitch to CarbonNetwork stream actions
How a creator with the Media role links a Twitch channel to CarbonNetwork, step by step: approving the link on Twitch, channel-point, bits, sub, raid, follow and hype train triggers, when channel points are refunded, how to test, and what to do when nothing happens. The same on every CarbonNetwork server.

Twitch links straight to CarbonNetwork. There is nothing to install and no password to type in game. For the menu, the board and what everything looks like, see Streaming.
What you need
- The Media role on CarbonNetwork. Ask with
/applyin our Discord. - A Twitch account, and a browser to approve the link in.
- For Channel points, Bits, New sub and Gift subs: Twitch Affiliate or Partner. Follow, Raid and Hype train work on any channel.
Link your channel
-
/stream→ Twitch → Link Twitch. The menu closes and chat says Asking Twitch for a code. -
Chat says Approve the link on Twitch. with an [Open Twitch] button. Click it. Twitch's activation page opens with your code already filled in.
-
On Twitch, sign in as the channel you stream on, and approve.
-
Back in game, chat says Linked to twitch.tv/yourname. The Twitch tile now reads Linked to twitch.tv/yourname.
- Check the name. If it isn't your channel, you approved with the wrong account. Shift-click Unlink and start again.
- Closed the chat line? Click Link Twitch again while it says Waiting for you to approve on Twitch, and the button comes back.
- On Bedrock, a form shows the code instead. On a phone or computer, open twitch.tv/activate, type the code, and approve.
- Nothing for a minute? Chat says Twitch didn't answer. with [Link again]. Click it. If it keeps happening, tell staff.
Set up your first action
-
/stream→ Actions → pick one, like Confetti. -
Click a Twitch trigger. Follow is the easiest to test. A trigger with a number asks for it: for Channel points that number is what the reward costs.
-
The action's tile now reads On, and the trigger tile glows.
-
Optional: set Cooldown, Colour, Sound, and a Title in your own words.
-
Back on the first menu, switch Live on.
That's it. Repeat steps 1 to 4 for each action you want. One action can have several triggers: a follow and a 100-bit cheer can both throw Confetti.
The triggers
| Trigger | Sets it off | The number | Your screen says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Channel points | A viewer redeems the reward CarbonNetwork made for this action | Its cost in points, from 1. Starts at 500 | viewer_one redeemed Confetti |
| Bits | One cheer of at least your number | Bits, from 1. Starts at 100 | viewer_one sent 500 bits |
| New sub | Every new sub. A sub someone was gifted counts under Gift subs instead | None | viewer_one subscribed |
| Gift subs | Someone gifting at least your number of subs at once | Subs, from 1 | viewer_one gifted 5 subs |
| Raid | A raid of at least your number of viewers | Viewers, from 1. Starts at 5 | viewer_one raided with 20 viewers |
| Follow | Every new follow | None | viewer_one followed |
| Hype train | Only on the Hype train action. A train reaching at least your level | Level, from 1 | The bar reads Hype train level 2 |
Click a trigger with a number to change it. Right-click any trigger to remove it.
A gifted sub plays once for the gift, never once per sub. A cheer with no name on it reads "a viewer".
Channel points
When you add Channel points to an action, CarbonNetwork makes a reward on your Twitch channel for it. You don't make it yourself.
- One reward per action, named after it: Hearts, Confetti, Spiral, Ring, Sparkles, Flames, Music notes, Your name, Screen title, Hotbar message. Its description reads Plays on the streamer's screen in CarbonNetwork.
- It costs your number. Change the number and the price on Twitch changes.
- Switch the action off, or remove the trigger, and the reward goes from your channel. Switch it back on and it comes back. Unlink removes all of them.
- While the trigger tile says Waiting for Twitch to make the reward. and That needs Twitch channel points., Twitch hasn't made it. Your channel needs Affiliate or Partner. Once it's made, the tile says The reward is on your channel.
- Rewards you made yourself on Twitch are never touched, and never set anything off here.
Points come back when it can't play. If a redemption can't be shown, the viewer gets their points back. That happens when:
- you're not on any CarbonNetwork server;
- Live is off;
- the action is cooling down;
- you're in a fight with Quiet in combat on;
- you've hit the limit of 30 a minute, or three animations at once;
- staff have paused you.
When you're offline the refund comes after about a minute and a half. Bits and subs are never refunded: that's Twitch's rule, not ours.
Your own redemption doesn't play. Redeeming your own reward on your own channel shows in your recent list and on your board, and that's all. To test a reward, have a second account redeem it.
The hype train
Add Hype train to the Hype train action. It's the only action that offers it.
While a hype train runs, a purple bar under the news bar fills as the level does, and reads
Hype train level 2. Change the words with Wording: {gift} is the level. The bar goes when
the train ends.
Preview shows the bar at level 2 for five seconds.
Test it
Twitch has no button that sends a test event to a real channel. Its command-line tool only reaches a pretend server on your own PC, never CarbonNetwork. So:
| To test | Do this |
|---|---|
| How an action looks | Right-click it in Actions. Works with Live off and no trigger |
| A follow | Follow your channel from a second account. To repeat, unfollow and follow again |
| A channel-point reward | Have a second account redeem it. Your own redemption doesn't play |
| The LIVE dot on your board | Start a stream on Twitch. It goes when the stream ends |
| Bits, subs, raids | These need real viewers. Preview shows how they'll look |
Before each test, check Live is on, on the server you're on.
Your link to Twitch
- A link lapses if it isn't used for a long time (about 30 days), or if Twitch takes the permission back. Chat says Link expired. with [Link again], and the tile reads Twitch link expired. Click [Link again], or Link Twitch, and approve again. Your actions and triggers are kept.
- Unlink takes a shift-click. It removes the link and the channel-point rewards CarbonNetwork made. The tile reads Unlinking for a few seconds.
- CarbonNetwork never sees your Twitch password, and never sees a message a viewer typed.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing plays | Live is off. It goes off when you leave a server, and changing server counts | /stream → Live on, on the server you're on |
| Nothing plays, Live is on | The action is off, or doesn't have that trigger | Actions → the action. It should read On, with the trigger tile glowing |
| A test follow did nothing | Twitch may not send a follow again straight after an unfollow | Wait a minute between unfollow and follow, or use another account |
| It played once, then not again | Cooldown | Lower Cooldown |
| Your own redemption did nothing | Your own redemptions don't play | Use a second account |
| A viewer's points came back | It couldn't play: offline, Live off, cooldown, a fight, the limits, or a staff pause | See Channel points. Switch Live on before you go live |
| Waiting for Twitch to make the reward. | Your channel has no channel points | Channel points need Affiliate or Partner |
| That needs Twitch channel points. | The same | The same |
| No Twitch trigger tiles in an action | Twitch isn't linked | Link it first |
| No Hype train trigger | It's only on the Hype train action | Open that action |
| Twitch didn't answer. | The link service didn't reply in time | Click [Link again]. If it repeats, tell staff |
| Link expired. | The link lapsed | Click [Link again] and approve |
| Still unlinking Twitch. Try again in a moment. | An unlink is finishing | Wait a few seconds |
| The tile shows someone else's channel | You approved with the wrong account | Shift-click Unlink, then link again signed in as yourself |
| No LIVE dot on the board | Twitch says the stream is offline | It appears when your Twitch stream starts |
| A name reads "a viewer" | Names is off, the name failed the filter, or it was an anonymous cheer or gift | Check Names |
| Staff have paused stream actions. | A staff pause | Ask staff in a ticket |
